Kamakura Shirts Collaborates with a Local Temple: The Ultimate Workwear for Everyday Life
While incorporating the comfort, functionality, and ease of movement expected from traditional workwear (samue), we have also integrated the tailoring techniques honed in Kamakura Shirts' dresswear, achieving a clean and refined silhouette.
Thanks to the gathered sleeves, it's easy to roll them up, making this outfit practical and functional for household chores such as cooking, laundry, and cleaning, as well as for gardening. The zippered and hip pockets are convenient for carrying a wallet or smartphone, making it perfect for quick errands.
The pants can be worn on their own, making them versatile as casual wear.
About the Fabric
This Oxford fabric, dyed using pigments from winter moss, was realized through the desire of Daitoku Matsuyama, the Deputy Chief Priest of the Taizoin sub-temple at Myoshin-ji in Kyoto, who wished to express the four seasons of the Yoko-en garden through botanical dyeing.
While moss adds character to its surroundings, it can also lead to the deterioration of buildings if left unattended, so it is regularly removed. By extracting and reusing the pigments from this moss, we have created a subtle yet powerful moss green, reflecting the strength of the moss.
The Oxford fabric can be used year-round and will develop character over time.
